Rheumatology is a relatively new specialty that deals with diagnosis and non-surgical management of musculoskeletal conditions involving joints, spine, muscles, soft tissues as well as certain autoimmune conditions. Many of these conditions need prompt and early diagnosis and treatment in order to prevent long term damage and deformities of the joints and other systemic complications. Some of these conditions need long term treatments done under close supervision of a Rheumatologist.

Arthritis literally means “inflammation in joints” and can manifest as pain, swelling and stiffness in a joint. Rheumatic diseases are disorders of the musculoskeletal system that may involve joints and other surrounding structures. They can cause significant loss of function, mobility and can affect quality of life, unless they are diagnosed and treated early. There are many forms of arthritis, some are self-limiting, and some may become chronic. Arthritis can affect all age groups including children and young adults. Some forms of arthritis can be due to wear and tear and life style related and have different approach to their management and not merely drug treatment. Most of these conditions need a multidisciplinary input with close coordination between Rheumatologist and other Allied health professionals including Physiotherapist, Nutritionist, Podiatrist, Occupational therapist etc. At our center, we aim is to provide a quick diagnosis and optimal management of all musculoskeletal diseases; from young to old age.
